At Absolute Software Ltd we consider ourselves PIC experts. This is not only because of our Microchip Consultancy Certification and Hi-Tech Consultancy recognition. It is also because of our vast experience with all shapes and sizes of Microchip Technology's PICs, and the wide range of applications where we have implemented these devices in design.
Our smallest PIC design was with a PIC12. A client approached us because a custom frequency counter chip had become obsolete, and they had decided to take the opportunity to revamp their product and reduce cost by implementing a new solution using a PIC12. The client had massive experience in programming, but had not used PIC devices before, so had wisely decided to approach some PIC experts for this design. We needed to find a solution that was cost effective but also gave them increased performance over their original design. We took a PIC12F629, which is a small 8-pin device with only 1024 words of Flash ROM and 64 bytes of RAM, and developed a high performance, auto-ranging frequency counter.
We have also demonstrated our status as PIC experts on a number of more complex designs, including a DJ mixing desk, a temperature logging system (with USB, Ethernet, Modem, RS232, 4-20mA, etc), a USB digitial camera, the list goes on.
As PIC experts, we can assist at any or every step of your project. We can help selecting the correct PIC for the job, assigning the correct pins for the appropriate functions, finding work arounds to silicon bugs, choosing the correct compiler, setting up your tools, designing the software, implementing the software, testing, verifying, validating.
In one recent project, the client originally approached us to asking for assistance from our PIC experts. They had just sent one of their engineers on a PIC programming training course, but he was struggling getting up and running.
