Connections - CAN-bus

Controller-area network (CAN-bus or CAN) was invented in 1983 to provide a robust protocol for devices within a harsh environment, such as on a car. A modern car can have as many as 50 processors talking over CAN, and each of those processors requires some embedded software.

At Absolute Software we have experience with developing embedded software for everything from small CAN pedal units, through to advanced Windows-based CAN dashboards.

Typically, we would choose a Microchip PIC for the smaller scale CAN devices; they are small, cost-effective and reliable.

For our Windows-based CAN solutions we would opt for a pre-approved SBC, which enables us, with minimal development costs, to provide a solution under 100 dollars (including the Windows license).
